Toward New Horizons Seeking Truth – Pursuing Innovation

In our first week in china we did not visit university and did not exposure it that much because it was close for semester break and that’s the reason we explore city, but since last week from 15 September university re-open now and we went many times there for our cards/registration and other organizational things as well as for visits and discover so many things which I want to share here today.

Many alumni and current students believe that Zhejiang University is eastern Cambridge from all perspectives, they argue that at least it’s Cambridge for Asia, I can’t make this comparison because I never visited Cambridge before but of course Cambridge research and work make it praiseworthy and that the thing I found also in Zhejiang University, this university also have a vast fields of research and departments from medicine to engineering, from philosophy to arts, from architecture to law, from technology to religion, until now I seen various departments which I can’t count here.

Zhejiang university is already much famous in china and people here consider it in top 5 university of china and students from different regions study hard to get enroll in this university but what I observe now that it’s also quit famous among international students, as I already met personally maybe more than 100 students until now who came from all over the world at least 40 different countries from Europe to Africa and America to Asia from everywhere.

As I mentioned above that Zhejiang University have various department and I also want to mention here that it’s not just about academic studies but also Zhejiang university hold music and sports schools and teach its students color of life in all perspectives and it provide vast facilities for its students in this regard.

Where Hangzhou city mesmerize you with its own beauty there also when you enter in Zhejiang university it have another city inside of it, usually with my experience in Europe as a student I did not found this thing there, like inside the campus you can find student hostels, super markets, play grounds, restaurants, shops, inside and outside sports grounds, piano and other music instruments rooms, gym and much more even you can hire taxi inside the campus, this thing amazed me because you can live and enjoy a complete life inside the campus.

Zhejiang university is a huge institution where organization is not a simple thing but while our registration time we experience this thing that organizational structure of this university is amazing and they divide their working units in different sectors to make their work and progress more faster and effective and also I am grateful to Chinese students in this university who help you on every step and I believe these are the reasons we got our cards within hours and enrolled ourselves.

Until now I found three huge libraries in Zhejiang universities which consist thousands of books and function of libraries and students activities are more surprising like you can put your stuff in library and can leave your personal stuff even your laptop there if you want to go out for lunch or dinner or you can order your food and can eat inside the library this thing in enormous for me, furthermore students are unbelievable they spend their whole day in library, they eat there and even some time they take 1 or 2 hour snap there, this atmosphere I never seen before and its amazed me, I am really thankful to china for this experience.

Food is very important factor for student life because they never want to cook, so in this university in every campus you can find many cafeterias, canteen and dining halls where you can find varieties of food with very fair prices and even on Sunday which is not possible in Europe at least, even though I am vegetarian and cannot taste everything here but through my friends and colleague experiences I must say students are not missing their home food here.

I found many interesting things here in this university and learning everyday new things here but one thing I must say which is I am missing here and that is discussion, I never found students here having discussion which is disappointing for me, but maybe I need to discover more to find this thing as well, of course I cannot write everything about this huge institution in this short essay, I just tried here to bring my observation in a comprehensive way.

I believe that Zhejiang University is bringing and will bring more changes and wisdom in the Chinese society and will play its vital role for advancement of country and for flourish carrier of its students, I believe that only education can make good societies and those good educated people with open minds and ambitious eyes can lead the world in more peaceful way and for this cause I think Zhejiang university playing its best role and will continue.
