Editor: 何舫     Time: 2018-09-12      Number of visits :77

On August 28, 2018, a delegation from Zhejiang University in China visited the Faculty of Arts. The director of the School of Marxism, Prof. dr. Zhang Xinzhang, along with ten doctoral students, had come to Siegen. They were selected by the Vice Dean Prof. Dr. med. Christoph Strünck and other colleagues. Already in 2011, a contract with the Philosophical Faculty of Zhejiang University was signed. Since then, there have been several mutual visits to Siegen and Hangzhou. A highlight were two conferences on the relationship between politics and religion, at both locations. Colleagues from history, social sciences, theology and other subjects of our faculty attended these conferences. For this purpose, a joint book has appeared.

The cooperation a long tradition. Once started by the Emeritus Prof. Dr. med. Vondung from the Germanistische Seminar, today Prof. Dr. med. Raphaela Averkorn from the History Department is a driving force behind the cooperation with Zhejiang University. She has taken on a permanent visiting professorship in Hangzhou. Ms. Averkorn is also a member of the editorial board of a journal published by Zhejiang University.

The exchange between Hangzhou and Siegen is lively. There have already been several Chinese doctoral students as well as Master students for one semester in Siegen. The cooperation has been supported in its history both by the DFG and with several Erasmus + Grants (Key Action KA 107). In the next few years, more lecturers and students will go from China to Siegen and vice versa. The latest coup is a pilot program that combines study abroad and internship in Hangzhou. Two students of the international master's program Roads to Democracies set out for China in August. The exchange activities are financially generously supported by Zhejiang University. The cooperation is to be further expanded in the future.
